There were many things that I was prepared for when I launched Korstog Training, everything from the lean times and the busy times, the potential for accusations of inappropriate actions, and students paying but not showing up and having to make arrangements with them.
What I wasn’t prepared for was the number of people who can’t grasp why I charge for my classes; it’s never about how much I charge but that I want them to give me money in general. This is the worst in fellow medical professionals because many of these individuals are used to not having to pay for a class out of their own pocket. Instead, they take a particular class through their service or hospital, and it comes out of a budget. In hindsight, I wish I was keeping a running tally of the number of times I have heard, “I can take it for free at XXXX hospital”, the funny thing is, I teach for that hospital, and I am well aware of what they are charging, the student just never sees a bill.
I have a goal of 25,000 in profit this year for my company, which would be close to 32-35k in sales, we will see how things go. I am hoping to start filming online classes to sell as part of a subscription-based recertification process. Hopefully those folks wont argue about paying for that.
