I started here at the metro service in May, to say that I am still happy to be here is an understatement. I am rapidly getting to the end of my probationary period here, and it feels like I haven’t really been on probation at all.
yes there is a lot to learn, yes its all about fitting into the way we do things here, but by and large its really just a matter of me keeping my opinions to myself and being what I have always been since the day I walked into Chuck Ruuds EMT course so many years ago, a paramedic.
Today one of our lead Field Training Officers (FTO) told me he was riding with me for the next couple of shifts. The paranoid person in me suddenly went into defcon 1 mode. The logical calm rational person in me after tacaling the paranoid person and sitting on him so he will calm down said its just what they are doing, I have not had an FTO observe me yet so I am do.
I was also told they were radically changing my schedule in a few weeks, this wouldn’t be a huge problem but it does impact my EMT course, and that costs me actual money.
Anyhow, the adventure continues.
