Range Time With Two Sarah’s

Minnesota has decided that it wants to bring winter back, our 50 and 60 degree days are a memory. Today we awoke to single digits and the promise of about 4 inches of snow tonight and into tomorrow morning. Our family friend Sarah and her room mate who I will call Sarah 2,  attended a permit to carry class yesterday that didn’t give them a significant amount of trigger time, one of the ladies also named Sarah is seriously considering a Sig P229 like I carry everyday so it was a trip to the outdoor range where I am a member at, and running a 100 rounds of 9mm down range. She seemed to do well with it and the vane side of me hopes she buys one.

I shot exactly 7 rounds into a target today which isn’t bad, the goal was for the two Sarah’s to get a feel for their guns and for Sarah 2 to get a chance to shoot the gun she was strongly considering carrying, she was coming into this experience with nearly zero knowledge of how to shoot a handgun but a great deal of knowledge on how to shoot a rifle from her time in Army. I approached it like I used to when I would teach a handgun I demonstrated the controls of the gun, gave her a magazine and let her shoot, although unlike what I did years ago I didn’t do a whole lot of correcting because I wasn’t asked to nor was I in a position to be standing behind her to assist in stance etc, also I was cold and so was my walker.

This trip did give me some desire to explore doing more training classes in the future, although with my physical situation I’m not sure if that’s an option at this time.
I’m also thinking I should do a review of my SIg as I want to get into doing those types of postings.
