my healing is going much slower than I had hoped, i am still perpetual pain, i can go a little bit without the crutches, but not very far.
this past weekend I over did it greatly, hell this past week I over did it greatly, all of it was worthwhile, but man alive did it take it out of me today.
Thursday Matt and I (mostly Matt) mowed the lawn, it was in dire need.
Friday was spent with me mostly in bed, and then Saturday rolled around.
Saturday I did the 1 day to mason class at the Minnehaha Lodge, which is doing all three degrees of masonry in 1 day. I knew it was going to take alot out of me and I went in thinking I was in for a day of hell. What I got was several individuals who very passively made it a point to make sure I was taken care of. From the individual assigned to all of us doing the degree work parking me on the end of an aisle and making sure my crutches were easily grabbed, and the gentleman from the Grand Lodge of Minnesota who would whisper “this is a long time” or “this is a short one” during the times we had to stand to say various oaths and other things. One of my Sponsors made sure i was taken care of by carrying my lunch to me, and grabbing me water etc, I owe him a soda still. The end of the day made me a 3rd degree Mason, and filled my head full of masonic stuff I wont talk about here other than it was a wonderful time and was well put on.
That night we went to the drive in to celebrate Matts Birthday by seeing how to train your Dragon 2, it was good, a little violent for a kids movie.
Sunday the three of us went to MOA for the first big outing since my surgery, we took the scooter out. the scooter did great until we realized, my big ass drains the batteries greatly and we had to stop and charge it a bit. Ate a less than stellar meal at Cadillac Ranch, it wasn’t good.
Today, Anj’s alarm work her up at 5:45, I got up let the dogs out, and then went back to sleep until 9:50, we went grocery shopping, and then I went and slept for 3 more hours.
it was during the grocery shopping trip that I got to see first hand the stupidity of many people, its no secret I can’t walk very far on crutches, thus I have the handi-capped hand tag for the truck. arriving at Cub i saw some lady who had parked her car across two of the handi capped parking spots, the hood was up and she was filling her windshield washer reservoir with fluid. The older couple in front of me asked her to please move so others who needed those spots could park there. The response was “i’ll just be a minute” I am so sick of hearing “I’ll just be a minute” from people, it’s rude, its unthinking, and frankly these people know they are in the wrong but are somehow trying to minimize their guilt. we ended up parking down the way a ways and walking in. Shopping was rough on me, mostly because I had not taken any of my pain killers.
anyhow, managed to get Matt to Karate, going to pick up Anj from work afterward, and will enjoy an evening with my family at home. Tomorrow is another day.
