greetings true believers, back when this blog was about my cosplay and fabrication hobbies this is how I would open every post because this is how Stan Lee used to open every interview for comic book interviews.
I say this because I have felt a bit off balance today, and not in any bad way, as those of you have seen me at a pool or without my shirt on can attest, I have a tattoo of a yin yang symbol being shredded by a tiger on my back. I have long thought this signifies my life, calm interrupted by periods of great upheaval or change.
today I saw my doctor for my two week follow up appointment.
the stats on my Tumor:
6 grams
about the size of a Kiwi at 5.6 cmm long, 3.45 cm wide 5.2 cm tall
The surgery:
they drilled a hole into my pelvis and scraped out the tumor, and then polished the area inside smooth, they then filled it with alo-graft bone. they left the opening open as there was nothing to cap it with.
the walls on either side of my pelvis are between 1mm and 2mm thick, the back end of course is full thickness
during the procedure they had to cut several nerves that were wrapped around the tumor area, and dissected the nerve that runs along the outside of my leg.
they then sutured me closed and used dermabond to seal up the incision
So where am I at now:
I can now wean off the crutches so long as I promise to follow his instructions (more on that shortly)
I am to remane resting and minimal weight bearing at least until my next visit at the end of July.
I will be tagging both of my bosses as the next bit pertains to them, its a Ying and Yang thing.
His instructions:
no running, no jumping, no turning without support, no pulling, pretty much none of the activities I do at work for three months. This is down from 5 months two weeks ago.
He asked me about my job duties at my full time employer after I explained a typical day he said “you wont be able to do those things for 3 months”
we just agreed that i wont be working the ambulance for awhile on the Paramedic thing.
so the good news is I will be back to my old ways possibly as early as September providing I keep doing what I am supposed to do.
To clarify and answer the question:
I do not have much in the way of a front part of my left pelvis, one decent fall or impact could snap that part of my pelvis like a twig and it needs time to heal up.
Anj and I are making plans and accommodations for festival to allow me to be out there and to be able to do show.
So as I started this with my old initial greeting, I leave you with my old sign off:
Chris
Live your life as if it were a single flash of lightning, a lifetime in every breath, and should the angel of death cross your path, tip your hat, roll up your sleeves and dare old Grim to come at you.
